Our Story
It all started when…
Clyde Léger, "Pops", was born in Southern Louisiana “Tee Mamou”. There were three things that Pops loved in life and that was crawfish, dancing, and music. As he would say “Buhay ay Maganda” (translates: Life is Beautiful) when eating crawfish, dancing, and of course, drinking cold beer”.
As a little boy, pops and his brothers would catch crawfish (with a stick that had their shoes string tied to it) in ditches or marshes around their house for dinner that night Ma’ma (pops mom) being French had a flare for cooking. Pops grew to love cajun cooking and learned early that the most important part of a meal is sharing it with those you love.
Crawfish boils are a Léger family tradition. Along with friends and family, we gather outdoors around newspaper-covered tables, peeling and eating until we pass out. Though the crawfish boil wasn’t as popular as it is today, eating crawfish has dated all the way back to pre-colonial times. But most importantly, the little mudbugs have become inextricably woven into our culture and traditions. They’re iconic... and come spring they’re something we can’t live without.
